How to make Bacon Basil Mussels.



  • 24 PEI Mussels
  • 4 cloves garlic crushed
  • 1 cup sliced red onion
  • 1 cup freshly torn basil leaves
  • 1/2 cup bacon puree
  • 2 cups white wine
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil
  • 3 tablespoons cold butter
  • French bread for serving

Let's get Cooking...

  1. In a very hot big pan put all of your mussels in the pan, drizzle with oil and shake the pan around to get them moving and sizzling.
  2. Next throw in the garlic, onion, and bacon puree.
  3. Toss around for a second, add the white wine and let reduce.
  4. Once wine has reduced by half, add more the remainder of the butter and toss in half the basil.
  5. Serve in a shallow bowl and garnish with the rest of the basil, and plate with charred crusty French bread.
