Beef Chow Fun is your new favorite noodle dish



  • For the beef:
  • ½ lb sirloin
  • ¼ tsp baking soda
  • 1 Tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 1 tsp light soy sauce
  • ⅛ tsp white pepper
  • For the sauce:
  • 1 tsp dark soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp chili in oil (Lao Gan Ma), optional
  • ¼ tsp sugar
  • 1 Tbsp Shaoxing wine
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • For stir frying:
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil, divided
  • ½ Tbsp ginger, chopped
  • 1 Tbsp garlic, chopped
  • 1 red chili or ¼ red bell pepper, seeded and julienned
  • 10 oz fresh chow fun noodles (wide rice noodles), separated
  • 4 oz garlic chive or green onion
  • 4 oz bean sprouts
  • 1 tsp sesame oil & seeds for garnis

Let's get Cooking...

  1. Combine all ingredients for beef; toss everything together and set aside.
  2. Combine all ingredients for sauce; whisk well until sugar has dissolved. Set aside.
  3. Heat a wok over high heat. Add 1 tablespoon cooking oil then add beef. Cook 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until almost cooked. Remove from wok and set aside.
  4. In same wok, add remaining cooking oil. Add ginger, garlic and red chili. Stir fry for 30 seconds to 1 minute or until you can smell the aroma.
  5. Add noodles and sauce. Stir fry for 1 to 2 minutes or until noodles have absorbed sauce evenly and are softened. Add green onion, bean sprouts and cooked beef. Toss everything together and stir fry for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Remove from heat.
  6. Garnish with sesame oil and sesame seeds and serve immediately. Enjoy!
