Beer Cheese Dip With Pretzel Bites

Julie Nolke

Who knew mini pretzels and decadent cheddar sauce could be so irresistible and easy to make?

  • Pillsbury pizza dough
  • Egg wash (egg yolk + water)
  • Kosher salt
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 5 tablespoons flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup Pilsner
  • 2 cups old cheddar, shredded

Let's get Cooking...

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. Start by unwrapping the pizza dough. Slice into 1-inch rectangles, then chop into smaller bites. Place on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Brush the top of each bite with egg wash. Sprinkle salt over the top. Bake until golden brown, about 12-15 minutes.
  3. For the cheese dip: melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, then sprinkle in the flour. Stir together until a paste has formed. Pour in milk and beer and stir until the mixture thickens and there are no lumps. Whisking constantly, mix in cheese and salt until everything is melted and well blended. Note: do not let come to a boil.
  4. Serve pretzels bites with the cheese dip and enjoy!
