Boiled Eggs - From Prep to Peel

Whether you like eggs soft or hard-boiled, here are a few quick and easy tips to achieve perfect boiled eggs every single time.

  1. Boiling Method
  2. Refrigerated eggs in pot, cover with cold water (1”)
  3. Bring the water to a full boil over high heat, and then remove the pot from the heat. Cover and let the eggs cook the rest of the way using the residual heat in the water.
  4. 4 minutes – The white is fully set, but the yolk is thick and runny.
  5. 8 minutes – The white is fully set, and the yolk is set, but tender.
  6. 10 -12 minutes – The white is fully set, and the yolk is fully set.
  7. 15 minutes or more - Rubbery finish, yolk is gray/green. No bueno.
  8. Shock boiled eggs - must cool completely for easier peel (30 minutes)
  9. Steaming Method
  10. Add 1” of water to your pot. Place steamer inside, cover and bring to a boil. Carefully add eggs to your steamer with tongs. Cover and continue cooking.
  11. 6 minutes for soft boiled eggs
  12. 10-12 minutes of hard boiled eggs
  13. Shock boiled eggs - must cool completely for easier peel (30 minutes)
