Bourbon Brown Butter Oysters

Served with warm butter and a bit of citrus, this will be your new favorite way to enjoy shellfish.



  • 12 oysters
  • 1/2 pound butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cups bourbon
  • 1 teaspoon each lemon, orange, lime juice

Let's get Cooking...

  1. In a large cast-iron pan filled with enough salt to fill the pan half-way and place in the pan in the oven for 15-25 minutes at 500F.
  2. Remove and place cleaned oysters unshucked on salt.
  3. Put the cast iron back into the oven for 5-8 minutes and bake.
  4. Melt butter in sauce pan, add salt.
  5. Once butter has melted, slowly add citrus juices and bourbon and stir well to combine.
  6. Place oysters, caps removed, on plate drizzle with butter serve with lime wedges.
