Drunken Spaghetti

Frankie Celenza

Wine isn't just a good complement to spaghetti, but a great way to add flavor.

  • 1/2 pounds spaghetti
  • Salt, to taste
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • 5 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • Red pepper flakes
  • 1 cup red wine
  • Basil, to garnish

Let's get Cooking...

  1. Add spaghetti to salted, boiling water. Set timer for 1 minute shy of the lowest time displayed on the box.
  2. In the sauté pan, gently sauté garlic and crushed red pepper flakes in extra virgin olive oil.
  3. When the spaghetti is done (1 minute shy) add to the skillet along with 3/4 cup of red wine. Cook on high heat while stirring.
  4. Serve immediately, topped with basil, and drink that remaining 1/4 cup of wine.
