Fake Out Dessert Nachos

Julie Nolke

Prank your friends with this incredible dessert appetizer packed with candy, walnuts and cherries.

  • 1 package of store-bought sugar cookie dough
  • 2 cups chocolate chips
  • 1-2 tablespoons water
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 package, orange candy melts, melted
  • 1/2 cup green icing
  • 1 tablespoon red sprinkles
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, sliced into quarters
  • 1/2 roll green candy tape, sliced into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup white icing
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam

Let's get Cooking...

  1. Preheat oven according to cookie dough package directions.
  2. Roll out cookie dough between two pieces of parchment paper to 1/4-inch thickness.
  3. Using a pizza cutter, cut dough into triangle pieces shaped like tortilla chips. Place 'chips' on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper and bake according to package directions.
  4. While the 'chips' are baking, prepare the rest of the toppings. Melt chocolate chips slightly, then mix with water and chopped walnuts to form the 'ground beef'. Melt the orange candy melts to form the 'nacho cheese'. Mix green icing with red sprinkles to make the 'guacamole'.
  5. On a platter, place a layer of chip cookies, then drizzle with the orange candy melts (cheese) and sprinkle some chocolate/walnut mixture (ground beef). Top with maraschino cherries (tomatoes) and candy tape (green onions). Repeat to form another layer, then top the whole thing with a dollop of white icing (sour cream). Serve alongside green icing (guacamole) and strawberry jam (salsa). Enjoy!
