Heated Beignet

Take beignets to the next level by adding cayenne pepper.



  • 2 1/4 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/2 white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 7 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup butter flavored shortening
  • Oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar
  • Cayenne pepper

Let's get Cooking...

  1. In a large mixing bowl add the yeast and the warm water and allow it to bloom, once there are active bubbles add the sugar, salt, eggs and milk and blend well.
  2. Add 4 c of flour and blend until smooth, finally add the rest of the flour and the shortening, cover and chill for 12 hours.
  3. Roll out dough cut and fry, serve hot with a light sprinkle of cayenne pepper and a ton of powdered sugar.
