Okra Tempura

Tempura fried okra is a thing of beauty. Plus is full with vitamins, minerals, and protein.



  • Oil for frying
  • 1 pound fresh okra, trimmed and cut lengthwise.
  • Batter: 1 cup flour 2/3 cups cornstarch, 2 teaspoons baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt 3 egg yolks, 1 1/2 cups soda water. Mix all, set aside.

Let's get Cooking...

  1. Heat a large pot of oil over medium heat.
  2. Whisk to combine all of the batter ingredients in a large bowl
  3. Dip okra in batter, shaking off any excess.
  4. Fry until lightly golden
  5. Sprinkle with salt. Serve with hot sauce and beer.
