Peaches and Cream Steamed Bun

You'll melt for this peachy take on an ice cream sandwich.



  • 2 mantou steamed buns
  • Finely-ground sugar
  • 1-2 tablespoons vanilla paste
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • Pinch cayenne pepper
  • 1 fresh peach, pitted and sliced into 1/2-inch slices
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 2 hefty scoops high-quality vanilla ice cream
  • 1/2 box of vanilla wafers, pureed

Let's get Cooking...

  1. Heat a steamed bun, then toss it in finely ground sugar and let sit at room temperature.
  2. In a bowl, mix vanilla paste, brown sugar and cayenne pepper. Toss sliced peaches in the glaze.
  3. Butter a grill pan and cook peaches on one side for about 1 minute. Transfer to a plate to cool slightly.
  4. Scoop a nice big scoop of ice cream, pack it tight, then roll it in the vanilla wafer powder.
  5. To assemble, take a bottom bun and add peaches, then the rolled ice cream, followed by the top bun.
