Pita Beef Gyro

Erwan puts his spin on this classic pita sandwich.



  • 150 grams skirt or tenderloin steak, thinly sliced
  • 1/3 cup of sliced cucumber
  • 1/3 cup of cubed tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons of greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon of red wine vinegar
  • Salt and pepper to season
  • 2 cloves of garlic, finely sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, sliced
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground rosemary
  • Olive oil for cooking
  • Mint to garnish
  • Slices of lemon
  • Chili sauce

Let's get Cooking...

  1. Mix the cucumber, tomato, vinegar, yogurt with salt and pepper.
  2. Fry the garlic in a pan with the onions with some olive oil until soft and slightly charred.
  3. Flash sear the steak pieces in another pan with some olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary, cumin and onion powder. This should take about 4 minutes.
  4. Toast the pita on both sides with some olive oil.
  5. Place the beef on top of the pita, garnish with the tomato mix, lemon, mint and chili sauce.
